Unitrin Insurance is acclaimed to be one of the most successful and experienced financial service providers and has been functional since the 1990s. Small businesses, families and individuals subscribe to various insurance and other financial services/products provided by them. Today, Unitrin has subscribers in rural as well as urban areas of United States of America.
Unitrin started off as an independent firm in April of 1990 after being a subsidiary of the famous Teledyne, Inc., under the aegis of renowned entrepreneur, Henry. E. Singleton. As a budding new business concern, life and health insurance, property and casualty insurance, and consumer finance and industrial loans are the major business services offered by Unitrin. Besieged by extensive take-over bids, Unitrin strengthened its base with buying back shares to retain control to fight back any future takeovers. Today, with an annual revenue of $3.1 billion and assets exceeding $9 billion, Unitrin has been rated as an 'A grade" company.
The three auxiliaries under Life and Health Insurance Division of Unitrin, Union National Life Insurance Company, United Insurance Company of America and the Pyramid Life Insurance Company are wholly owned by Unitrin Health Insurance. These companies have a national network of 2,600 career agents who are Unitrin employees and also they employ some 250 agents who work independently. Unitrin Health Insurance offers policies up to $250,000 both for individuals and groups. Both term-life policies and permanent insurance policies with coverage for limited benefits and major medical expenses are offered. The customers are given high-quality, tailor-made services that are personalized with an appreciative and satisfied clientele. This has resulted in an increase in revenues for Unitrin.
Unitrin strengthened its rural health insurance sector by acquiring locally strong but smaller companies. Unitrin's most winning strategy deployed was the door-to-door service not just when the policy is taken but for collecting the periodic premiums also. With an army of some 4,000 representatives visiting the homes, Unitrin avoided delayed or missed payments and customers were saved expenses of commuting for or mailing the premiums. 'Home-service' market has become Unitrin's strong bastion winning customer loyalty and acquired major shares of customers and premiums in the market. Today, Unitrin Health Insurance is the undisputable leader in the 'home-service' insurance sector in more than 26 states and the District of Columbia.
Unitrin fosters autonomy amongst its subsidiaries making them taking initiative in reaching customers and serving them with alacrity and required individual attention. Unitrin's policy of being honest in the business dealings and making upfront and transparent transactions has won great respect and brand equity for Unitrin throughout the US.
