Molina Healthcare was founded in 1980 by Dr. C. David Molina, who was working as an emergency room physician at the time. During his employment, he witnessed how many people were unable to afford health insurance. Realizing that everyone should have the same access to health care services, Dr. Molina opened his first clinic in Long Beach, California. Here, he provided health care to patients regardless if they were able to pay or not. Since then, Molina Healthcare health insurance is available to people in ten states by working with government health care programs, such as Medicaid and Medicare. Many people who cannot afford a typical health insurance policy are forced to rely on government assistance programs. Molina Healthcare strives to provide quality health care services to people in this situation. They are committed to provide affordable care to everyone who needs it.
Molina Healthcare health insurance programs include Medicaid and Medicare. They have negotiated contracts with Medicaid in order to be able to provide a variety of medical services to both individuals and families who qualify for government health care programs. They are also able to provide affordable health care to children through a government program called State Children's Health Insurance Program, or SCHIP. This coverage is meant to help pay for health care for children that their families cannot afford, but they have too high an income to qualify for Medicaid.
