New Health Care Options For The Citizens Of New York State
2011-07-26
Individuals who reside in New York State are going to have many new health care options available to them than they have had in the past. Individuals who are uninsured and have been unable to secure a health insurance policy are going to have the opportunity to secure a New York health insurance policy now and in the future.
Residents of New York can expect to see many upcoming changes to the health care and health insurance industries as part of an initiative to improve both. Each of the States, including New York, will be making major changes to how health insurance companies conduct business.
Residents who have previously been unable to secure New York Health insurance because of a pre-existing medical condition will now be able to secure an insurance policy even though they have a pre-existing condition that eliminated them from applying for and securing health insurance in the past. This new option is the result of a sweeping change to the health care system that is currently taking place in New York and across the United States and is expected to be completed by 2014.
Another change to New York health insurance that residents can expect is that uninsured residents will now be able to secure a health insurance policy via a health insurance exchange. As with all the other states, New York is going to require that any residents who do not have a health insurance policy secure a policy or pay a tax. New York will not impose this mandatory requirement on individuals who have low incomes and cannot afford to pay for the mandatory health insurance coverage or tax.
Residents of the state of New York can also expect to see minimal insurance rate increases as health insurance companies that increase rates too high will be penalized and unable to participate in statewide health insurance exchanges. Health insurance exchanges are the door that insured New York State residents will use to secure health insurance coverage. Health insurance companies that do not participate in health insurance exchanges are going to lose a substantial amount of profit, so health insurance companies are not expected to risk losing that opportunity by raising insurance rates unreasonably because of the risk they will be banned from participating in the health insurance exchanges.
Residents of the state of New York who need affordable health insurance coverage can expect to see sweeping changes to the health insurance industry in New York. Individuals who were unable to secure a health insurance policy due to pre-existing conditions or because insurance was too expensive will now be able to secure insurance.
