How Health Care Reform Will Impact Southern Ohio
2010-05-02
The United States of America is the wealthiest nation in the world; as such, we should also have the best benefits, resources, and services for our residents. In most cases we do, but unfortunately the health care system has many major flaws that affect most of the citizens who reside in this great country. In fact, the majority of people in the United States who have claimed bankruptcy or who have enormous amounts of debt; are in this situation as a result of the high costs of health insurance.
So, how will this impact residents of Southern Ohio? Healthcare reform has been designed to improve many facets of health care for all residents of the United States, including those in Southern Ohio. More and more people will be able to gain access to health insurance than ever before. As well, health care reform is being made so that this access will cost less for the average person. Soon, all residents will be able to visit the doctor and seek medical services without having to pay extremely high costs out of pocket. Unfortunately, many people cannot afford high health insurance premiums. Residents of Southern Ohio will also have a greater variety of physicians, hospitals, and other medical providers to choose from. Health care reform will also open the door to specialists, greatly reducing wait times for patients. As a whole, the quality of service and health care will be greatly improved.
The medical care currently provided to children in Southern Ohio also has some drawbacks. Mortality rates are high and not all children are able to access certain medications, procedures, or medical facilities. With the proposed reform, children will be able to receive the medical services they so desperately need in order to help treat and cure a variety of diseases and illnesses. The same can be said for seniors. Quite often in our society, seniors are overlooked, once they reach a certain age. But we cannot forget that as we age, we will require more and more medical services. At present, some of these services are not accessible by everyone. This is quite a cause for concern as many seniors suffer needlessly because they cannot afford health care.
The proposed health care reforms will take some time before they are fully implemented and we can see the long-term benefits. In the long run, as the wrinkles and glitches are smoothed out, all residents of the United States will eventually be able to notice the changes in the quality of health care. Some of the changes and improvements will be noticeable immediately, and hopefully the rest will follow, allowing all Americans the health care coverage they deserve.
